brookebaldwinJoin fellow Metro NY alumni for a great gathering at the recently renovated Collegiate Hall of The University Club, One West 54th Street.  We will honor CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin ’01, who will be introduced by distinguished alumnus Draggan Mihailovich ’83, senior producer of CBS “Sixty Minutes.”

The event will be held on Wednesday, October 21, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Tickets may be purchased on the GAA site. Ticket price is $80; GAA members pay only $60. Young alumni: Ticket price is $60; young alumni GAA members pay only $40. Admission includes open bar and an array of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres.  The University Club dress code requires men to wear coat and tie (no denim) and business attire for women.

As customary, there will also be a raffle and auction to further support the scholarship fund.  Auction items will include a basketball autographed by members of the 2015-16 Tar Heel men’s team and a soccer ball autographed by members of the 2015-16 Tar Heel women’s team among other special items.  The raffle will include a pair of tickets to “Saturday Night Live,” several Alexander Julian signature ties and Tar Heel game tickets among other fun items.  Raffle tickets are available in online registration.

Lauren Brooke Baldwin was born in Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended The Westminster Schools.  At the age of 13, she attended the United States Space Camp and served as commander of her mission there.  She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a double bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Spanish, and also studied at Universidad Iberamericana in Mexico during her undergraduate years.  Brooke began her professional career at WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia and later joined WTTG in Washington, DC as lead reporter for its 10 p.m. newscast.  She joined CNN and HLN networks in 2008, and was a contributor on “Rick’s List” hosted by Rick Sanchez from the show’s inception in 2010.  She currently anchors “CNN Newsroom” weekdays from 2 to 4 p.m. EDT as well as appearing on various other news programming.
